FAQ
The questions we get the most.
For fans: how the night works. For partners: how the contract looks. Pick whichever applies.
For fans
Do you lock my phone?
No. CellFree doesn't lock anything. You scan the venue QR, opt into the CellFree window, and switch your phone off yourself for the set. When the lights come up you switch back on and Backstage opens. Nothing is confiscated, nothing is enforced, nothing leaves your device except a single qualitative label (qualified / not qualified) that decides whether you unlock Backstage.
Can I use my phone in an emergency?
Yes. Switch it on, use it, switch it off. CellFree ends the moment your phone is powered back on — you won't unlock Backstage, but you don't forfeit anything. The phone is yours, not ours.
Are you tracking me?
No. CellFree runs a single check on your device — did the phone stay off for the CellFree window? The answer is one of three labels (qualified, not qualified, uncertain) and that label never leaves the device unless you choose to share it for the Backstage unlock. There's no GPS, no accelerometer monitoring, no personal data collected.
What if the show runs late?
The CellFree window tracks the headline set, not the clock. If the artist runs over, the window extends. Backstage opens when the headline set actually ends — not when the schedule said it would.
Do I need an account?
No account. No profile. No followers. The fan app is a Pass, not a social network. You install it, scan the venue QR, and you're in. There's nothing to sign up for.
What if my phone dies before the set?
If your battery dies, the CellFree session is treated as incomplete — you won't unlock Backstage. Charge up. (This is a real reason to bring a battery pack to gigs in 2026, but you already knew that.)
Will other fans see if I qualified?
No. Qualification is private. The room doesn't know who unlocked Backstage. The artist doesn't see a leaderboard. CellFree doesn't publish anything.
What happens if I don't qualify?
Nothing dramatic. You won't unlock Backstage for this show. We won't tell anyone. See you at the next one.
For partners
Can only the headline act use CellFree?
No. CellFree is per-set, not per-event. A multi-act bill can have different rules for each act — phone-free for the headliner, support acts can allow filming, encores can be their own thing. You choose per set.
Can support acts allow phones?
Yes. The CellFree window is opt-in per artist. Support acts opt in if they want to; if not, the window only fires for the sets that opted in.
Can I change content after publishing?
Yes. Edit your Backstage window up until 30 minutes before doors. After that, content is locked for the night — but you can still schedule a Live Drop for mid-show.
Can we delay Backstage?
Yes. The Backstage window opens when the headline set ends by default. You can delay it (to give the roadies time, or to do an aftershow announcement first), or open it manually from the dashboard.
Does CellFree work for festivals?
Yes. Per-stage CellFree windows, multiple artists, single dashboard view across the weekend. Festival programming is the Fully Integrated tier.
How do refunds work?
CellFree is a marketing and engagement layer — it's not a refundable product. If a show is cancelled, fans don't lose their ticket and CellFree doesn't charge you. We refund any fees on cancelled events, no questions.
What about soundcheck?
Soundcheck is opt-in. If you want the CellFree window to start at doors (so fans lock in early) you can do that. If you want it to start at the headliner's first song, that's the default.
Who owns the data?
You do. Backstage unlock analytics, Drop engagement, venue screen interactions — all of it lives in your dashboard, exports as CSV, and never touches our CRM. We're a tool, not a data broker.
